Million Paws Walk 20th May 2012

Million Paws Walk – blurb
Join in the fun at RSPCA Qld’s biggest fundraising event of the year - Million Paws Walk!  We need your help to raise vital funds to assist in caring for more than 18,000 dogs that our Animal Care Centres receive each year.  These dogs are not as fortunate as your much loved family pet.  They often need to be desexed and vaccinated before they can be put on the road to finding a new home.

Yearly costs involved in caring for these dogs include:

  • $360,000 for vaccination medication
  • $270,000 to provide heartworm treatment
  • $216,000 to provide food and shelter

So whether you have a dog or not, you can walk on Sunday 20 May and fundraise to help make a real difference to the lives of these 18,000 dogs.  Sign up to attend your local Million Paws Walk event at http://qld.millionpawswalk.com.au/ and start fundraising today!

Event date: Sunday 20 May 2012

More Land For Moranbah...

THE development of a 104hectare parcel of land in Moranbah will be fast-tracked to improve supply of residential land and ease housing affordability in the township.

A range of dwellings are planned for the site and it's estimated 1500 homes could eventually be built there, while there are also plans for a commercial activity centre, which would include a primary school site and five parks.

The Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA) yesterday approved a proposal to work with Isaac Regional Council to expedite development on the council-owned Grosvenor Drive site.

It was one of two housing boosts in Moranbah yesterday, with a development application to deliver up to 150 new homes also given the green light.
